Formula: Assumes a 4-hour linear decay for rapid-acting analogs. IOB = Units - (Units * (Hours / 4)). Note: Actual decay curves are non-linear.

Clinical Context

Insulin stacking occurs when you bolus a correction before the previous bolus has finished acting. Most rapid analogs have a duration of action of 3 to 5 hours.
